Danube
Animated Short 2013
Danube is a short film combining photography and animation.
Danube is an attempt to capture the slow, steady destruction of a piece of music (the Blue Danube Waltz, performed by the never-forgotten Wayne King and his Orchestra). I overlayed a loop of the chorus with other sound textures, increasingly distorted and corrupted, then created the visuals using a photograph of two industrial towers, permanently smoking away in the south-east of Paris. The music and samples are the result of many happy hours trawling the vast quantity of public-domain jazz recordings available on the internet. Special thanks to Jazz Online
